Angelmilk Records Announcement
|
Angelmilk Records is pleased to announce a new partnership with Andrew McNeice (owner/operator of MelodicRock.com), who will join the Angelmilk team to help develop the label further.
British based Angelmilk Records (www.angelmilkrecords.co.uk) has to date released the acclaimed Nexx album Another Dawn and recently signed Vox Tempus for a wider release of their debut album.
With a desire to expand the label, but a lack of time to do so, label boss Andy Bramhall approached McNeice, who he felt was in an ideal position to accept a new challenge.
Believing there is always room for a label with a desire to release only the highest quality music, a deal was struck.
McNeice will have a hands on role effective immediately, handling A&R (new signings and project development) and expanding distribution among other things.
Angelmilk owner Andy Bramhall comments: "I am extremely excited to have Andrew working for the label in his role heading up the A&R. Both of us think that there is room for more great music and artists to be developed in and around this scene.
Angelmilk has been kicking about for a year or so now and although we have a couple of projects in the pipeline, it has just been impossible to give the business the time and effort it deserves to be taken seriously, enter Mr. McNeice!
Andrew will be taking care of the day to day running of the label from sunny Australia. I have supported Andrew where I can over the past 2 years and I hope that with both our efforts we can build Angelmilk into a true force to be reckoned with, we are both looking beyond the standard here.
Please welcome Andrew to the team as I have done, and go easy on him while he settles in…stay tuned, its going to be great!!"
Andrew McNeice comments: "I couldn't be happier with my new role at Angelmilk. I must emphasize the fact that it is business as normal for MelodicRock.com. Absolutely nothing will change in regards to the site or the way it is run – with my daily updates and regular features all online as per usual.
This is simply a separate role for me and something that will help keep my creative juices flowing. I am always open to new challenges and after running MelodicRock.com for more than 10 years now, this seems perfectly timed. Staying inspired and focused upon the melodic rock world which I love is vital.
I will however, refrain from reviewing any Angelmilk releases. There is no way I will compromise the integrity of the site and I know Andy agrees with me on that. Angelmilk news and previews will continue to be presented on the site alongside all the other great labels and artists that I work with and help promote.
And further to that, while there is definitely a competitive streak among some labels in this business, it is not my desire to join in that game. With the regrettable demise of MTM Music, I believe there is a vacancy for another quality label to fill the big gap left by them, and present the record buying public with some quality releases that might otherwise not have found a home.
While I am at it, this will be a great opportunity to try out a few ideas I have up my sleeve and perhaps also do things a little differently at times.
There will be a few pet projects planned and importantly, some new talent too, always with the aim of releasing music of the highest possible quality. I talk about these things often enough on the site, so I view this as my chance to put that into action.
Angelmilk has always been a supporter of MelodicRock.com and was one of the few labels to actively sponsor MelodicRockFest last year. They believe in this music and this scene and that's exactly what I am all about. Let the challenge begin!"
Should anyone have any questions, comments, enquiries or submissions in relation to this announcement or Angelmilk in general, they can contact myself via the usual e-mail address: ajm@melodicrock.com.

ANDY BARNETT CALLS IT A DAY WITH FM:
After a triumphant return at Firefest 4 it is with deep regret that FM have to announce Andy Barnett has left the band. Andy decided to call it a day as he wants to concentrate all his energies on other projects he has going and he is also in the process of relocating abroad.
A spokesman for the band said “We fully respect Andy's decision and wish him all the very, very best and much success in his future career, we made some fine music together and had a great time while doing it. The Firefest DVD is a fitting and fine tribute to that chapter of the bands career. Respect”
So what of the future? The band will carry on with the new studio album while they find a replacement with the more than capable Steve Overland on guitar duties and hope to resolve the situation sooner rather than later. The band look at this as a fresh and exciting new era and are very positive for what the future holds.
STAGE DOLLS SIGNS WITH SONY MUSIC:
One of Norway's most successful bands since the 80's are releasing a new album in 2009. With classics albums like Commandos, Stage Dolls and Stripped, Stage Dolls dominated the Norwegian music-scene in the 80's and early 90's.
After continuous touring in Norway followed by USA the single Love Cries went into the American Billboard top 100 (46#) and 3# in the Album Rock Charts.
The album is planned for release Spring 2009 in Norway and Europe followed up by touring."

BRUNO RAVEL RADIO SHOW!:
Danger Danger's Bruno Ravel will be sitting in for Steve Price on ARfm on Saturday 6th December between 6pm and 9pm UK (1pm - 4pm EST).
Bruno and Steve were chatting at Firefest V when Bruno suggested he had always wanted to try his hand at presenting so having booked the day off Steve needed to find a replacement. A quick call to see if Bruno was serious in his desire to host a programme…and he is!
So, if you want to hear Bruno's choice of music tune in to ARfm at: www.arfm.co.uk.
SPRINGSTEEN'S NEW DREAM:
Bruce Springsteen's new album Working on a Dream has been set for a January 27 release on Columbia Records. "Working on a Dream" was recorded with the E Street Band and features twelve new Springsteen compositions plus two bonus tracks. It is the fourth collaboration between Springsteen and Brendan O'Brien, who produced and mixed the album.
"Working on a Dream" Song Titles: 1. Outlaw Pete 2. My Lucky Day 3. Working on a Dream 4. Queen of the Supermarket 5. What Love Can Do 6. This Life 7. Good Eye 8. Tomorrow Never Knows 9. Life Itself 10. Kingdom of Days 11. Surprise, Surprise 12. The Last Carnival Bonus tracks: The Wrestler, A Night with the Jersey Devil.
Bruce Springsteen said, "Towards the end of recording 'Magic,' excited by the return to pop production sounds, I continued writing. When my friend producer Brendan O'Brien heard the new songs, he said, 'Let's keep going.' Over the course of the next year, that's just what we did, recording with the E Street Band during the breaks on last year's tour. I hope 'Working on a Dream' has caught the energy of the band fresh off the road from some of the most exciting shows we've ever done. All the songs were written quickly, we usually used one of our first few takes, and we all had a blast making this one from beginning to end."
"Working on a Dream" is Bruce Springsteen's twenty-fourth album and was recorded and mixed at Southern Tracks in Atlanta, GA with additional recording in New York City, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.

BACH GOES TWANG:
Sebastian Bach says: "Greetings from Nashville, Tennessee! We have been completely ensconced in the studio here for the last week, wood shedding in a big way, writing and demoing our asses off. I am happy to say that the writing team of Jeffrey Steele, Vicky McGehee, and myself, the team that brought you 'Battle With The Bottle', have been been locked in Jeffrey's studio, with our intention being to come up with a full album sometime in the near future.
"Since the ending of 'Gone Country 2', we now have between 10 and 15 songs 'under construction,' and we will not stop writing/demoing until we all feel we have a killer record. We all love the song 'Battle With The Bottle', but that is only the beginning. We are in the midst of assembling a whole new 'team' down here in Nashville that will be able to bring a song to the radio, which we did not have at the time of filming 'Gone Country 2'.
"Hey, you don't ha ve to ask me twice to make music! I am so very fortunate to have met Jeffrey and Vicky, and the songs we are working on now are truly new and fresh for me as a musician. I really can't wait for all of you to hear this stuff!"

Firefest V kicked off with a pre-show party on the Friday night in The Rig venue, below the larger Rock City club. 300 or so folks piled in to drink and be merry and stock up on merch early in the game. Present of course were a number of the artists appearing over the weekend, signing CDs and pictures for those gathered. And making an evening of it was two great acoustic sets, which were well received.
First Beggars & Thieves made their live return with guitarist Ron Mancuso and vocalist Louis Merlino delving into the best tracks from the band's much loved debut as well as a few select catalogue tracks and even one new track. Yes, you will be hearing more from the band in 2009.
Louis is really in fine voice too, it was awesome to hear him sing Kill Me, No More Broken Dreams and Beggars & Thieves again.
Loud & Clear were up next and delivered a short set of crowd pleasers that served as a warm up for their Saturday performance.
An evening that was over all too quickly.
Saturday kicked off with what was an impressive attendance early on. Plenty had arrived early to take up position at the front of the stage and the bar! Rock City has now become a familiar venue for all and it was full for most of the weekend, but never overcrowded.
Talon –
The US rockers returned for their second appearance after an impressive debut several years back. A new singer in Chandler Mogul saw the band with a different presence on stage. The guys had a great sound and showcased the new Fallen Angels CD, from which the best sounding material came. I'm not convinced Chandler was entirely comfortable during this show, but he did his best. Tracks from the debut didn't work as well and I think the band will learn from their appearance.
Loud & Clear –
It is somewhat unusual for the second band of the first day to deliver a knockout set, but Loud & Clear were indeed one of the weekend highlights. Their professionalism, stage presence and general energy, coupled with a great set list of L&C favourites had the crowd hopping from the outset. The reception was impressive and I know the band were eternally grateful for that.
A really energetic set and powerhouse performance by Jess Harnell threw down the challenge to the bands to follow.
Paul Laine –
Paul is one of the true cult icons of the melodic rock scene, as is his cool Stick It In Your Ear album. With tracks drawing largely from that release (and a couple of Shugaazer tracks for good measure), Paul also delivered a really energetic and fired up set, which again, saw him in great voice. The crowd – already warmed up from the opening two sets – was thoroughly into the show and sang along whenever possible. We Are The Young and Doriana particularly impressive.
Valentine –
Back by popular demand after last year's set... I saw the 2007 DVD as I wasn't in the house last year. They were one of the best received bands then, but sadly for singer Hugo, this year he could only try his best as he had been struck down with a cold and was struggling for his voice for much of the set. It got better with each track and he really deserves kudos for giving it his all. The rest of the band were their usual pro-selves, but most agreed that last year was the better set – for obvious reasons.
Jeff Scott Soto –
Well, what can be said about JSS the performer that hasn't already been said? Most present knew what to expect, but had reservations over how the new material would translate live. The set concentrated on these new songs as a DVD was being filmed for release in 2009, but the all important usual classics and album tracks were included to keep folks happy. But from what I saw, everyone was happy no matter what and the new material really sat well alongside the heavier classics. JSS was on fire – as was Gary and Howie – hamming it up as usual. But the vocals of Jeff on this particular occasion were truly something to behold. High expectations were met and all things said, he really nailed this performance.
Pink Cream 69 –
A lot of PC69 fans were in the house and were not disappointed by the band's performance, which sounded great and features tracks from the last album and catalogue favourites.
The one thing I would say is that after the energy delivered by the JSS band, PC69 seemed almost laid back despite the nature of their music. There isn't a lot of stage movement from anyone and that made the set seem longer than it was. Great sound though…the guys can sure play.
Tyketto –
Despite not being the same line-up as last year, Danny Vaughn and company positively blew the venue apart with a set list of classic melodic rock songs and a frontman in incredible voice who really engages with the crowd. They deserved their headline status and closed out the day with a massive hits filled set.
Sunday was an even earlier start with another great crown lined up from before 11am outside the venue. Saturday night's early morning finish had me feeling a little tired, especially after only arriving in the country Thursday AM from a 24hr flight. But a little high octane rock n roll soon gets the blood running and Burn really did their very best to get the day off to a big start.
Burn –
Riding high following the critical success of their Global Warning release, Burn ripped through a solid hard rocking set and I think got a better response than Talon the day before. Their band's sound was impressive (especially for the first band of the day) and the crowd got into it.
David Readman –
David worked through songs from his solo debut and did an ok job at keeping momentum rolling following Burn's big intro.
HEAT –
Swedish lads HEAT had the major problem of appearing without their lead singer due to some last minute heart surgery (he's doing fine). But what to do – pull out of a gig only organized the week earlier? No, these troopers instead pulled in Eclipse singer Eric and Brother Firetribe's Pekka to fill the gap. Eric did several songs from the band's killer debut album and Pekka delivered 3 well known covers mid-set to rouse the crowd. To be honest, the original material probably went over better, but the crowd appreciated the efforts of the band, who themselves sound really tight. It was a good fun set in any regard.
Rox Diamond –
The only set I missed all weekend.
Mitch Malloy –
Mitch was joined by guitarist Tommy Denander who was playing some unfamiliar gear, but made the best of the situation. Mitch delivered an energetic performance covering many of the tracks from his cult classic debut. Mitch's voice has changed somewhat over the years (as is the case with most singers), so not all parts sounded the same as they perhaps could have, but it has been 20 years and Mitch still gave his all. A great reaction to Anything At All and Our Love Will Never Die.
White Sister –
Perhaps the revelation of the entire weekend! California's White Sister nervously took the stage, not knowing what would greet them after a 20 year absence. But the crowd simply ate these guys up. It was hero worship at ground zero as the band tore through a classic set list of early 80s anthems; truly making a mockery of the fact they had not played live together in years. Looking and sounding like a band that plays every weekend together, the guys were as tight as any band that weekend and really blew everyone away. They really were the talk of the weekend after the show. More please!
Tall Stories –
I guess these guys were the most talked about act prior to the show. How would Steve Augeri sing after a 2 year hiatus and how would the guys sound after 20 years apart? I'm so glad I was there to witness this performance. After a very nervous start, the guys slowly relaxed and it was about 3 songs in that I saw and heard something change with Steve. He relaxed…and let rip. And from that point on it was clear to all that the voice was back and by the end of the set he was blazing through some great notes.
Power and passion in spades…Steve delivered. The band was not quite as sharp… I saw some errors and after the tightness of White Sister before them, the band was clearly looser and less rehearsed. The material was from both the debut and the upcoming Tall Stories 2 release (due in February 09). Some of it was a perfect rousing fit for the day, a few tracks more experimental and unfamiliar to those gathered. But still….the band got a great reception and Steve walked from the stage triumphant.
Danger Danger –
The Ted Poley fronted Danger Danger hardly needs a review – you just know the delivered and are professional musicians that never disappoint. The stage antics of Ted Poley are matched by few and the fact Paul Laine joined the band on stage for a song and a bit was another weekend highlight and a sign of class from Ted, who extended the invitation earlier in the weekend.
A rousing set of D2 classics that made this set one of the best for the weekend and a great way to close in on the end of another wonderful festival.
Firehouse –
I actually didn't see much of this set. The band is well known to all in attendance and was their usual high quality professional self and had the place on a high, keeping the momentum of the D2 performance going. But I had business to attend to and missed the rest of the set.
2 full days and a 3rd night before that really is a little much to endure…but it really was well worth the trip and massively enjoyable. No one sees all the hard work, the months of stress and endless phone calls, e-mails and general crap that go into putting on a festival like this. But as long as the chaos of backstage and beforehand is not witnessed…
The crowd sees a perfect weekend and it was a pleasure and an honor to be amongst it all once again.
The bands in particular need to take a bow for all brining their A-Game and can you believe that there were no egos, no issues and no problems all weekend. Everyone was respectful and appreciative of everyone and the after show drink-a-thon was like an old family reunion for many. Just a great atmosphere and a great all-round event.
This is the type of event that should never be taken for granted.
Now, with great pleasure I present this statement from Kieran and Bruce and the Firefest Team:
MESSAGE FROM FIREFEST TEAM
"First of all, once again let us thanks all those participating in what has become more than just a show, but a wonderful social event for all fans of melodic hard rock. It really has become an opportunity to meet friends and like-minded fans from all over the world, and despite all the hard work put in months in advance, is always a pleasure to see the fun and enjoyment had by not just those in the audience, but also the bands on stage. We'd also like to give a massive heart-felt thanks to Graham Hatton and Simon Trott, both true fans of the scene who dug deep into their own pockets and each donated a considerable amount of money to Firefest, enabling us to bring in all the bands we wanted – especially Tall Stories – and also go ahead with the filming for several DVD releases next year. Thanks guys!!
The reaction and response to Firefest 5 has been fantastic, so really, how could we not do another one? However, we will most likely go back to a single day and pre-show … a full weekend was just a little too much for everyone. So yeah, there will be a Firefest 6 and I hope we can all get together once again and celebrate the music that we love!
And as a final reminder: There are still Firefest 5 programmes available from our website shop: shop.thefirefest.com. These are 32 page full colour and the perfect souvenir of a great weekend. We have also did a limited re-print of t-shirts which are again for sale on our website. Please take a look, and help keep Firefest alive.
Thanks again to everyone! Bruce, Kieran & the Firefest team!"

ICONIC METAL BAND KEEL REUNITES IN 2009:
2009 will mark iconic metal band Keel's 25th anniversary, and the passing of two decades since the original lineup played on stage together. Unlike most of their contemporaries, none of the members has ever performed as Keel since 1989.
Ron Keel, guitarists Marc Ferrari & Bryan Jay, drummer Dwain Miller along with Geno Arce (Ron's long-time bassist) are preparing to perform again for the first time in 20 years. "It would not have been right without these guys," expresses Ron Keel. With the high volume of requests for the band to reunite, the members felt the time is right to deliver the show fans everywhere have been demanding: a Keel reunion.
In 1985, "The Right To Rock" became the fastest-selling debut album in A&M Record's history. Selling over 2 million albums the band was proclaimed the Best New Band by Metal Edge and Circus Magazines.
The title track was a hit on radio & MTV and remains a staple on VH1 Classic, in addition to the group's subsequent hits "Tears Of Fire," "Because The Night," "Somebody's Waiting," and "Rock & Roll Outlaw". They developed a reputation as one of the genre's most entertaining live acts, opening for heavyweights like Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, and Van Halen amongst many others.
Plans are for Keel to reunite at a select number of festivals and showcase dates in 2009 to perform all their hits and classic favorites in celebration of 25 years of rock n roll history. The Keel "Debut Reunion Concert" will take place in Hollywood on Saturday, January 31. The location for this historic event will be Club Vodka at The Knitting Factory – visit the web site and MySpace for details.
For more information go to: keelreunion.com and myspace.com/keelband.

FORMER RAINBOW STARS GATHER:
Former Rainbow musicians Joe Lynn Turner, Tony Carey, Bobby Rondinelli and Greg Smith have united with a second generation Blackmore to form Over The Rainbow.
Over The Rainbow is: Vocals: Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow 1980-1984) Keyboards: Tony Carey (Rainbow 1975-1978) Drums: Bobby Rondinelli (Rainbow 1980-1983) Bass: Greg Smith (Rainbow 1994-1997) Guitar: Jurgen ("J.R.") Blackmore.
Carey, who has produced several artists including Joe Cocker and David Knopfler since his Rainbow days says, "Having done everything from country to opera, I thought it would be fun to play some rock again without the burden of singing everything."
Rondinelli adds, "Over the Rainbow re-unites members of one of the most distinctive sounding bands of all time and introduces a hidden treasure to the world in J.R. Blackmore.''
The son of the iconic Rainbow founder/guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore, is Jurgen ("J.R.") Blackmore. J.R. is a critically acclaimed guitarist in his own right and agreed to join this endeavor after realizing how intense the demand was for a Rainbow "reunion." Over The Rainbow marks the first time that four members from three different eras of Rainbow will take the stage together along with J.R. Blackmore.
Rainbow has spawned over 20 albums (five Gold, four Silver), seven Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock tracks, six Top 75 UK songs and at least seven MTV frequently played videos. Their longest tenure was from its inception through 1984 when it went on hiatus so Blackmore could reform Deep Purple. A decade later, Rainbow toured and recorded an album. Since then, Ritchie Blackmore has turned his focus toward Blackmore’s Night.
Since 1998, former members of Rainbow and their respective management offices have been bombarded with requests for Rainbow to reunite. Carey, Rondinelli, Smith and Turner answered "the call" but agreed that the only legitimate way that this could be accomplished was with a Blackmore on guitar. Enter: J.R. Blackmore.
How does the younger Blackmore feel about sharing the stage with musicians he grew up watching perform in concert with his legendary father? "I have not worked with them," says Blackmore, "But, I have admired them since I was young. That makes them like brothers.”
Greg Smith agrees that the market for Rainbow’s brand of rock is under served. "I know there is a big demand for this music,” he says, “The fact that all members are ex-Rainbow from different periods in the band's history will give the music the integrity it deserves. A Blackmore on guitar will give it even more authenticity."
While Joe Lynn Turner has fond memories of collaborating with and great respect for Ritchie Blackmore, he's looking forward to working with his son. He states, “J.R. is the only logical choice for the guitar slot for Over The Rainbow. I have followed some of his projects over the years now. He's very talented."
Over the Rainbow will begin touring in Russia during February of 2009.

PLANT BOOK TO APPEAR IN GERMAN:
'Robert Plant: Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page & The Solo Years' will be available in a German translation in 2009, published via Hannibal Verlag. The text will be revised, and amended for the German edition. The UK/English edition is still in print and selling well. It is available in the UK from all good book stores and available to non UK residents at online stores such as Amazon and Play.com. The biography of Robert Plant was greeted with good reviews. Jeb Wright at Classic Rock Revisited said it is “well-written and well researched” and William Pinfold at Record Collector said it is “startlingly up-to-date.” The book covers Plant's entire life and has an extensive appendix, including set lists, a timeline, tour dates, discographies/biographies and a bibliography.
Meanwhile, 'The Story Of Judas Priest: Defenders Of The Faith' is now available in Polish translation from Kagra with Bulgarian and German editions to follow in December 2008 and early 2009. Go to: www.neildaniels.com/Foreign.html.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK FEATURE:
Just while I sort out the next Artist Of The Week feature, I thought I would do a brief recap and thank readers for the interest shown in this feature to date. The response has been terrific and much appreciated and I'm happy to pass on the news that all artists involved have reported solid gains in traffic via their own websites for the week of the feature and preceding that too.
They have all reported increased merch sales and that folks, is what this is all about! Promoting great music and making it easily available to those that want to purchase.
So with that said, I have received feedback that some folks missed out at the time - so for this one time only - I would like to make available the past few weeks of features via the links below, with all original deals offered still valid for a very limited time.
Any and all bands and labels are encouraged to contact me for information regarding this new promotional feature.
JETBOY ANNOUNCE LINE-UP CHANGE:
Jetboy wishes to announce the recent addition of accomplished drummer Doug Hovan. Doug Hovan will be replacing Jeff Moscone, who will be lending his youthful enthusiasm to a host of new projects.
“It's never easy losing an accomplished musician like Jeff. That being said, everyone in the band feels really fortunate that a drummer the caliber of Doug Hovan was not only available, but excited at the opportunity to join the Jetboy family” said Rhythm Guitar player and co-founding member Billy Rowe.
“Doug has a wide ranging skill set”, said Fernie Rod (lead guitar, co-founding member). “Not many people realize that Doug is not only a drummer, but also a talented songwriter and lyricist”.
Among Doug's accomplishments in the area of songwriting include the tune Rosegarden, which appeared in the film The Water Dance, starring Wesley Snipes. Doug Hovan brings with him a lengthy pedigree that includes a stint in Sway, as well as playing with musicians such as Danny West (Vain), Ron Yokum (Seahags) and John Torres (Laaz Rocket).
Jetboy recently completed a successful summer tour that saw the band play Rocklahoma, Rock The Bayou and The South Texas Rock Fest. Jetboy is playing isolated club dates in California, while preparing to enter the studio to record. Jetboy is also putting the finishing touches on an ambitious tour currently slated to begin in Summer 2009.
Jetboy will be performing Friday, November 14, at The Blue Café in Huntington Beach, California, as well as Saturday, November 15 at the Regent Theatre in Los Angeles. Additional information on Jetboy can be found on the band's website http://Jetboyrocks.com, as well as their MySpace page at: myspace.com/jetboyrocks.

SWEDISH ROCKBAND DANGER AVENUE RELEASE THEIR NEW EP NOVEMBER 29:
Danger Avenue has been around since 2006. They have brought their unique brand of rock to cheering crowds all around Sweden. Music that fit a small intimate club as well as a big stadium. Influences include Journey, Bruce Springsteen, Kiss, REO Speedwagon and The Who to name but a few. Putting the melodies in focus is what separate this band from most of the other new bands that are coming up at the moment. Drummer Criss David: "It all comes very natural to us and we want to be as a good as we possibly can in doing this."
The band keep coming back to the fact that the songs are the most important thing. What do Danger Avenue believe constitutes a good song?
Guitarist Victor DiCola: "A good melody, a good lyric and a band that can reach the listener and make him or her feel it."
On the question of what makes a good live show singer Jimmie Lee Cooper says: "A band that gives everything they´ve got and let the audience be a part of the show. We want every concert to be special and we do what it takes to make that happen."
Lead guitarist Thomas Van Shaw: "That's our idea about everything, to settle for the best possible. Great melodies and a big live show is timeless and you shouldn't be considered as some kind of retro band just because you find those things important."
The band are not the only ones who feel this way. Their fans share their vision. The response on MySpace, their website as well as at concerts has been better than anyone could ever wish for. People have pre-ordered the EP from all over the world and the band is happy to finally release it.
Bass player Viktor O'Malley: "Although we are forever thankful for the internet as many people have a discovered us there it feels good to have a CD out. We're kind of old school that way. When we think of our music we think of an open highway, a hot summer day and us playing in the car stereo and now that's finally possible for everyone to enjoy."
The new EP is followed by gigs around Sweden early next year and after that the band hope to play around Europe.

NOW IS THE HOUR FOR PLACES OF POWER:
Frontiers Records is truly excited to announce the European release of PLACES OF POWER debut album Now Is The Hour on January 23.
While the Places of Power moniker is brand new, this name hides the brand new collaboration between two superb artists who are no strangers to the concept of hard work and quality music. Bruce Turgon and Philip Bardowell can indeed boast in their pedigree collaborations with such bands and artists as Foreigner, Shadow King, Lou Gramm, Unruly Child, Magdalen and Peter Criss of Kiss.
Both have also released highly regarded solo albums for Frontiers Records during 2005 which gathered excellent reviews and great interests from press and fans alike. “Our collaboration started at the urging of Serafino Perugino, who felt that Bruce and I would work well together”, states singer Philip Bardowell. “I guess Serafino would be the "spark"! The flame was then ignited when Bruce and I started throwing around tunes and discovered that we shared a passion for strong melodies and hooks”. Bruce Turgon also recalls: “Philip came back with powerful ideas and performances that made me feel that we were on the same page - I knew that this would be a strong collaboration from the start. I tend to “live” a record and dwell on every aspect of it, so it was very important to me that we share a common vision, and we have”.
“Now Is The Hour” production process was then started and took some good time to be completed, due to the enthusiasm and care that both Philip and Bruce gave to the album writing and recording. “I love the integrity of this record” continues Bruce, “there are no “and also” tracks - every song is a work of substance”, with Bardowell adding that every track “is also crafted in the "pop" sense and the songs are catchy and accessible”.
With the help of Scott McKinstry who contributed lead guitars to the album, Philip took care of all lead vocals while Bruce played all the backing tracks. The tapes were then sent to famed studio guru Dennis Ward (of Pink Cream 69 and producer of Place Vendome, Sunstorm, Bob Catley, Angra, Krokus etc.) in Germany who mixed the album in the summer 2008.
“We were able to deliver a product that we're both very proud of” adds Bardowell, while Turgon concludes “this is an album that deserves to be played live. We've created a strong foundation for Places Of Power to build upon and everything is possible...”
The result is a jewel, one of those rare releases that gets your attention from the very first to the last second - splendid performances, killer production and marvellous songs: that's what “Now Is The Hour” is all about!
“Now Is The Hour” final track listing includes: In Your Wildest Dreams; Make Me Believe; Desires of Our Hearts; One Day; I Live For You; Secrets; The Passage; Always; Hard To Love You; Light of My World; Path of Least Resistance; Places of Power - In Your Wildest Dream (bonus video clip).
